Finished magazine advert and digipak.
Almost finished editing music video on final cut pro, need to add subtitles and FX throughout the video.

In the magazine advert I have parodied the superman logo.

In the last couple of weeks i've used a new video editing software called FINAL CUT PRO which has proved much more effective in the edit of my music video.

Practice using the camcorder and editing footage together with music.

Digital technology:

The digital technologies I used include a computer and the Internet. I used these resources for research and planning for my project as well as updating my blog. Other technology I used is a video camera to practice camera shots and angles for when I use it to film.

This technology has enabled me to post images on my blog to make it more creative. The camera technology helped me be more creative because it enabled me to practice shots and see what shots work and what shots don't.

Research and Planning:

I have used secondary sources for my research this week, using the Internet to find both magazine advertisements and music album covers.

The reason I have used this source is because it is a simple method to get images of the products I want to analyse. Finding the images on the Internet also make it easier to update my main project blog with research I have done because it is already on the computer.

My research into famous album covers has allowed me to choose one to parody in my final project.
My research into album advertisements in magazines has enabled me to start mocking up a layout for my advertisement and further research will allow me to have many options for my final project design.

The only planning I have done is a first mock up of the magazine advertisement and the decision on which album cover to parody.

Weekly update 1/2/10

This week I have commented and wrote information about two famous album covers:
Abbey Road
Dark side of the Moon

I have not yet decided which i will choose to parody in my final coursework piece.

Aims statement

The three products that I am doing for my coursework are:

· Music promo video: This will be a music video for a song with a storyline and will employ fast cutting to match the drum and bass style of music
· Album Cover: The album cover will be a cover for the song shown in the music video and will feature the models from the music video. The cover will also relate to post-modernism because I plan to parody a famous album cover from the real world such as Abbey Road by the Beatles. To create this I will use Photoshop.


· Magazine advertisement: The magazine advertisement will advertise the album which I created the cover for and will also feature the models from the music video. To create this I will use Photoshop.

The target audience for all my products will be teenagers from 14 to 19 because the style of music appeals to that age group.
Synergy is used through the advertisement of the album because it will feature models from the music video and this will promote the music video as well as the album.

The institution most likely to have the power to make these three products would be Sony Corporation because they own advertising companies and Sony BMG which is a music entertainment company that owns many record labels. This would allow them to use all of their resources to create all products and not have to pay someone else to create the three products.

Weekly update 25/1/10

This week I have decided that all of my pieces of coursework will relate to post-modern media in some way. My music video will relate to simulacra as it will be created out of plasticine and therefore will be a totally simulated world. The front cover for the album will be a parody of a famous album in the real world(Abbey Road ETC.)
